Living in Expectation of Miracles
💔 When You’re Waiting for a Miracle That Won’t Come
Let’s be honest. When we hear “divine intervention,” most of us think of some dramatic breakthrough—a lightning bolt moment when everything suddenly turns around. But life doesn’t usually work that way, does it?
Sometimes we’re praying with everything we’ve got… and nothing seems to happen. Bills still pile up. The diagnosis doesn’t change. The relationship stays broken. So what do we do then?
The Bible gives us glimpses of miracles—yes—but it also gives us stories of waiting, wrestling, doubting, and holding on when hope feels almost impossible.
Look at Daniel. Thrown into a den of lions for staying faithful. It wasn’t a metaphor—it was real. And somehow, miraculously, he walked out alive. Daniel 6:22 says:
“My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions’ mouths…”
That’s not just about lions. It’s about every situation that looks like it should destroy you, but somehow—God carries you through.
🙏 What If You’ve Been Praying… and Nothing’s Happening?
It’s hard when prayer starts to feel like a broken phone line. You speak, but nothing seems to answer.
You might be wondering—Is it me? Is God even listening?
This is where faith stops being a feel-good word and starts being real. Hebrews 11:1 defines it like this:
“Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
It means believing when there’s zero evidence. Trusting when you’re exhausted. Holding on when everything tells you to give up.
That’s the kind of faith Jesus noticed in people—like the woman who touched His garment after twelve years of suffering. He didn’t say, “My power healed you.” He said:
“Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole…” (Mark 5:34)
Your faith matters more than you think. Not perfect faith. Not loud, flashy faith. Just the kind that shows up—even when you’re hanging by a thread.
💭 Why Do Some People Seem to Attract Miracles?
Maybe you’ve noticed it too—some people just seem to have miracle after miracle in their lives. While others? Nothing but closed doors.
Is it luck? Favor? Or is something deeper going on?
Sometimes, the difference is mindset. Not in a “positive vibes only” way—but in a spiritual openness. A willingness to expect the unexpected. To be available for awe.
In Ezekiel’s vision, he saw fire and clouds and winds that made no earthly sense. (Ezekiel 1:4). And yet, he didn’t turn away. He watched. He stayed open.
A closed-off heart can’t see wonder—even if it’s right in front of you.
Matthew 7:7 reminds us:
“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.”
But we have to show up to the door.
🧎♀️ Prayer Is Powerful—But It’s Not Passive
You might be praying daily, faithfully—but still waiting. And that’s frustrating. Painful, even.
Here’s the truth: prayer isn’t just about asking. It’s about aligning. It’s opening the door for divine movement—but also being willing to move ourselves.
James 2:26 is clear:
“Faith without works is dead.”
That means our prayers need to be paired with participation. Not to earn God’s help, but to make space for it. Prayer invites the miracle. Our action prepares the ground.
Keep praying—but also keep showing up. Keep doing what you can with what you have.
👀 How to Spot Miracles You Might Be Missing
Miracles aren’t always obvious. They’re not always loud. In fact, some of the most powerful ones slip in quietly, wrapped in ordinary moments.
A text from someone you needed to hear from. A small door that opens when every other one slammed shut. A stranger’s kindness right when you thought you couldn’t take anymore.
Matthew 16:4 warns against constantly demanding signs—but that’s not because God doesn’t send them. It’s because they’re already all around us. We just have to notice.
Even something as small as a sunrise that stirs your spirit can be a divine message: “I’m still here.”
Like Moses and the burning bush, the miracle might be right in front of you—you just need to stop long enough to see it.
📖 What Bible Miracles Teach Us About Ours
It’s easy to think biblical miracles were in a category of their own—parting seas, fire from heaven, food from thin air. But these weren’t just for shock value. They were about trust.
David didn’t defeat Goliath because he was strong—he defeated him because he believed God was stronger. And when Lazarus walked out of that tomb? It wasn’t just about resurrection. It was about reminding everyone that nothing is beyond God’s reach.
These stories aren’t just ancient—they’re invitations. To believe that your obstacle isn’t final. That your pain doesn’t have the last word. That even if you feel stuck in a graveyard season… resurrection is still possible.
🙌 Gratitude: The Secret to Seeing More Miracles
Sometimes we miss miracles because we’re too focused on what’s not working.
Psalm 118:24 gently reminds us:
“This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”
That doesn’t mean ignoring hardship—it means choosing to notice the good that’s still here. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 echoes this:
“In every thing give thanks…”
Not because everything is easy. But because thankfulness reorients our vision. It clears the fog. It shifts us from lack to abundance—and that changes how we experience everything.
Want to see more miracles? Start by acknowledging the ones you already have.
😔 What If You’re Struggling to Keep the Faith?
Doubt doesn’t disqualify you. It makes you human.
Even Peter, who walked on water, started sinking when doubt crept in. Jesus asked him:
“O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?” (Matthew 14:31)
It wasn’t condemnation—it was compassion.
Sarah and Abraham waited years for their promised son. They struggled. They laughed at the idea. But in the end, Isaac was born—just as promised (Genesis 21:2).
You’re not the only one asking “Where is God?” You’re not alone if you’ve been waiting, praying, hoping—and still wondering.
When doubt comes in, lean even harder into Proverbs 3:5-6:
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart… and He shall direct thy paths.”
He hasn’t forgotten you. The story isn’t over yet.
📚 Real People. Real Miracles.
This isn’t theory. This isn’t just scripture.
Real people—modern-day people—are still experiencing real miracles.
Like Anna, a single mom facing eviction, who prayed through tears one night… and days later received an unexpected refund that covered her rent in full.
Or Jack, whose business was collapsing—until someone from his past reached out with an opportunity that turned everything around. He had been praying, leaning on Psalm 46:1:
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
These stories aren’t coincidences. They’re grace in action.
🕊️ Living a Life Open to Miracles
You don’t need to see the Red Sea part to believe. Sometimes the miracle is peace in the chaos. Or strength for one more day. Or a heart that keeps beating after it’s been broken.
Miracles are all around you. Small ones. Quiet ones. Earth-shaking ones. But you have to believe they’re possible.
Paul prayed in Ephesians 1:18 that believers would have their eyes opened to the hope and glory all around them.
Open yours.
Look closer.
And maybe—just maybe—you’ll realize:
The miracle you’ve been waiting for has already begun.
